DAY 36 (11/23/14)

God gave some to be...evangelists, pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.  -Ephesians 4:11-12

IN:  Today we pray that we will worship in spirit and in truth and that God will be glorified in all that we do.

MN:  As we collect the gifts for the Children's Home in Paragould this morning pray for the children who will receive them.  With various backgrounds and unknown baggage these children are special to a loving God.  Also say a prayer of thanks to all who took a name off of the tree.  They will make a kid’s Christmas a little brighter.  Keep those who work with the Children’s Home and their families in your prayers as they minister to these children throughout the year.

PR:  Today we thank God for our Deacons.  Lift them up in prayer today by name.  They are: Gary Anzalone, Jack Baumgardner, Rick Brown, David Coleman, Greg Downum, Keith Gunter, Brandon Harrell, Wayne Harrell, Herman Hill, Greg Humphreys, Alan Meadows, Clint Meadows, Eric Moree, Rob Newsom, Jack Reynolds, Leroy Shelton, Mark Toombs, Joe Turbeville, John David Turbeville, and Lewis Whatley.

Thoughts on Prayer

"Be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.  Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel"  - The Apostle Paul (Ephesians 6:18-19)

“The spectacle of a nation praying is more awe-inspiring than the explosion of the atom bomb.  The force of prayer is greater than any possible combination of man-made or man-controlled powers, because prayer is man’s greatest means of tapping the infinite resources of God.  Invoking by prayer the mercy and might of God is our most efficacious means of guaranteeing peace and security for the harassed and helpless peoples of the earth.” -J. Edgar Hoover

“Our prayers are answered not when we are given what we ask but when we are challenged to be what we can be.” -Morris Alder

“After a week in the world, worshipers may need our prayers as much as our preaching.”  -Gordon MacDonald

“The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” -James (James 5:16)
